Motorhome towbars – finally a ‘one fits all’

Up until recent years, if you wanted a motorhome towbar, you had to travel halfway across the UK and camp out for a couple of nights while your made-to-measure towbar was designed, assembled and fitted. What a hassle!

Thankfully times are changing and some of the companies at the fore-front of towbar design are finally manufacturing one suited to motorhomes. It offers a heavy-duty towing option as well as the flexibility of fitting a wide range of motorhome vehicles.

Tow-Trust Towbars Ltd has been a quiet success in the towing industry for over 20 years and is now one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of towbars and towing accessories. They have listened to their customers and come up with a solution, a ready-made product that takes just a few hours to fit by a mobile fitter.

Designed and manufactured to fit all Alko chassis motorhomes from 2007 onward as well as motorhomes that have been fitted with Alko chassis extensions, it’s adjustable and is suitable for most popular motorhomes including the Bailey Approach, Swift Bessacarr, Swift Bolero and Swift Escape. The list of known vehicles that it fits currently sits at more than 80 with the list set to continue to grow.

If you live in Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff, Newport or anywhere in South Wales, you can count on us to install your motorhome towbar.

Requirements

As of 1st April 2012, it is now a legal requirement to fit an EC type-approved Towbar to any motorhome vehicle that is first registered on or after this date. The new motorhome towbar is fully EC type approved, ie. it meets a minimum set of regulatory, technical and safety requirements set by the European Community.

Making the right choice

So you know you need a towbar, but what kind is right for your vehicle? It may seem a complicated decision initially but, to simplify things, the two main types are flange towbars and swan neck towbars. Flange towbars are usually better suited to commercial towing and are more cost-effective, whereas swan neck towbars are sleeker and more lightweight.

Another option is our fixed range that are permanently connected to your vehicle or a detachable towbar that can be easily removed.
