Sortimo Racking

Sortimo racking brings order to your vehicle. It is robust and flexible, has a practical simplicy about it but with the highest quality you would expect from German engineering.

Kits-n-Bits are the only Sortimo racking specialist in South Wales.  From the initial call to the final fitting, our customers only deal with our small team, we never sub-contract out work.  Our customers are our priority from the start of the project to the end.  We ensure our customers have the right design and the best Sortimo products to suit their individual needs.

We’ve written this blog to illustrate the process, step by step, of a Sortimo racking fitting

Step 1

Customer requirements

Firstly we take the customers van details and have a brief chat about their requirements and what the Sortimo system can offer them. We will then arrange to meet the customer at their preferred location with our demo vehicle.

During our initial meeting we discuss

  • What the customer needs to store
  • What special features the customer might require
  • Customer budget
  • Possible design outcomes within budget

We demo the Sortimo features on our own vehicle so our customer has a first hand experience of the product and variations and discuss design options from the Sortimo catalogue.

There are many many variations of Sortimo systems, open shelving, closed toolboxes, roller drawers, hazardous fluid boxes etc.  Our Sortimo expert can advise on the best system but also can help the customer make the right choices whilst keeping within budget.

Sometimes the customer might need a custom made piece, like a bespoke work desk, this will be discussed at this stage.

Step 2

CAD Designs

Within a week we will  email the first draft CAD designs of the system in pdf format, which will show the designs from various different angles so the customer has a clear understanding of the design, see examples below.

Any changes to the design are made at this stage.

This stage of the process is dictated by design changes and could take from one week to several depending on the number of changes.

Once the design is approved by the customer, they are given a the exact quote.  We sometimes as for a deposit at this stage but it depends on each individual job.

Step 3

Order Units

The Sortimo units are ordered from Germany and can take up to 30 days to arrive. Once they have arrived a date is organised with the customer to fit the products at a convenient location.

Stage 4

Mobile Fitting

Every care is taken to ensure that our customers are aware of any existing damage to their vehicle. Our engineer carries out a full vehicle check and the customer signs this off before any work takes place.

Depending on the design the fitting usually takes 1-2 days.

After the fitting a full vehicle check takes place and the vehicle is signed off. A copy of the paperwork is left with the customer and the balance of payment is made.
